Steve Bannon is gone
Welp, White House Chief Strategist and former Breitbart (alt-right on-line website) CEO Steve Bannon is gone.
Bannon’s exit from the White House was announced today, early this afternoon. Maggie Haberman of the New York Times reported that White House Chief of Staff John Kelly had accepted Steve Bannon’s resignation.
Maggie Haberman quoted White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders as saying about Steve Bannon’s departure, “White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Steve Bannon have mutually agreed today would be Steve’s last day. We are grateful for his service and wish him the best.”
Bannon’s departure comes during what has been his most tumultuous week at the White House.
Things begin to rapidly go downhill for him on Saturday. Word got out that Bannon, who’s known for his support of alt-right, white nationalist groups, supported President Donald Trump’s comment, which was a subtle nod to the alt-right, white nationalist movements, that there was blame on “many sides” for the deadly attack in Charlottesville that left one person, Heather Heyer, dead.
Trump, who was told about the error in his ways, came back on Monday to give a more inclusive speech.
But, all of that was undermined after Trump stood in front of his Trump Tower, channeling Bannon once again.
This time, Trump decided to not only challenge folks view of the alt-right as not all right but he again attempted to show a moral equivalence between the protesters and the white supremacists.
The scene was so bad that Kelly, who folks said had had it with Bannon, could be seen with his arms cross and his head hanging down.
Welp, sometime between Saturday and the disaster of a press conference that occurred on Tuesday, Bannon apparently begin to see the writing on the wall.
So, he decided to phone a liberal reporter and snitch to him about the goings-on within the Trump White House.
Steve Bannon told Robert Kuttner, who is the co-founder and co-editor of The American Prospect Magazine, that Donald Trump was not being as truthful to the American people about the North Korean situation.
Kuttner quoted Bannon as saying, “There’s no military solution [to North Korea’s nuclear threats], forget it. Until somebody solves the part of the equation that shows me that ten million people in Seoul don’t die in the first 30 minutes from conventional weapons; I don’t know what you’re talking about, there’s no military solution here.”
As y’all can see, this is a direct contrast from what Trump said. Remember when, just last week, Donald Trump said North Korean leader Kim Jong-un would be met with “fire,” “fury,” and “power…the likes of which he has never seen,” if he tried to blow up the U.S. territory of Guam.
Bannon implied all of that was a lie. And the one thing anybody knows about ol’ Trump there is he doesn’t like anybody calling him a lie or implying that he is a lie; just ask the New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN, NBC, Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, and Meryl Streep.
Ol’ Trump there doesn’t do too good with what he calls “fake news.” And Bannon’s comment that “there’s no military solution” to the North Korean problem is what ol’ Trump there will call “fake news.”
Plus, Bannon has had his hide stuck in a whole since February. Y’all remember, February is when Bannon appeared on the Time Magazine cover with the words “The Great Manipulator” under his picture that rest against a dark, black background; which was meant to give folks the sense that Bannon has more significance and power than he really has.
Trump didn’t like that. Trump let people know that Bannon was a late comer on to his presidential campaign and that he had already clinched the party nomination by time Bannon came along.
Donald Trump told Michael Goodwin of the New York Post about Steve Bannon, “…he (Steve Bannon) was not involved in my campaign until very late. I had already beaten all the senators and all the governors, and I didn’t know Steve. I’m my own strategist and it wasn’t like I was going to change strategies because I was facing crooked Hillary…Steve is a good guy, but I told them to straighten it out or I will.”
The straighten out Donald Trump is talking about here is Steve Bannon’s on-going beef with Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.
Bannon sees Kushner as part of the New York elite and out-of-touch with the white working class voters.
This is something which former Breitbart investigative reporter Lee Stranahan told MSNBC’s “Live with Stephanie Ruhie” guest host Chris Jansing, back in April of this year.
Stranahan warned that if Trump loses Bannon, he may see his poll numbers dive down to 20%.
Currently, the polls have Trump hanging around 34% to 35%, with the Bannon supporters keeping him afloat.
After hearing about Bannon’s ouster, the folks over at Brietbart tweeted out, “#War."
And this can only mean that the folks over at Brietbart want to make sure they are the boulder knocking the Trump train off the rails.
The one thing I do know is that with his constant muck-ups, Steve Bannon has proven former White House Communications Director Anthony “The Mooch” Scaramucci right.
The Mooch told Ryan Lizza of The New Yorker that Steve Bannon likes to suck his own dick. And based on Bannon’s insane actions, I would say, “Yeah, The Mooch is right.”
So, it wouldn’t surprise me if Bannon makes the foolish decision to go to war with Trump in order to try and do what he wants to do; which is to tear down the system.
Unfortunately for Bannon, he, Breitbart, and Trump will be the only political casualties in that war.
As for us the American people, we’ll all be just fine.
